Atefeh grew up in Iran, where women-only swimming facilities were readily available. Beginning swimming at age 6, she quickly completed basic swimming lessons and moved onto competitive swimming at a young age. She has trained under experienced swimming coaches and participated in multiple regional and national swimming events. Atefeh completed her lifeguard training in Iran. Atefeh has a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and more recently Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree all from the University of Minnesota.

Since moving to the US, she has remained an active swimmer where women-only facilities were available. Now she wants to share the sport she loves with other Muslim girls, by providing them with the training and lessons they need to make swimming enjoyable!
